About This Program

We are a hybrid training program (Community based, university affiliated) that serves a rural and underserved population of Appalachia, exposing residents to early operative experience and advanced pathology, combined with exposure to most surgical subspecialties in a tertiary referral center. Our residents graduate equipped to go into private practice, as evidenced by the percentage of our graduates who do so successfully, but are also able to match to competitive fellowships.
