About This Program

The Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine General Surgery Residency Program provides comprehensive training that combines academic excellence with high-volume clinical experience across multiple teaching hospitals. Residents gain broad exposure to emergency general surgery, trauma and critical care, oncology, colorectal, vascular, breast, pediatric, minimally invasive, and robotic surgery, participating in more than 9,000 operative cases annually. A robust curriculum includes simulation, cadaver labs, endoscopy, research, quality improvement, and board preparation. A unique value-added year supports research or in-residency fellowship training preparing graduates for surgical practice, fellowship, and leadership
