UMMC is Mississippis only academic health sciences center and the states sole Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level IV NICU, and safetynet tertiary/quaternary referral center. Residents train on a high-acuity, diverse, and medically complex population with early operative exposure, structured autonomy, and strong continuity of care.
