Specialty Description
Medical toxicologists specialize in the preventing, evaluating, treating, and monitoring an injury or illness from toxic exposure.
Medical toxicology includes the monitoring, prevention, evaluation, and treatment, in all age groups, of injury and illness due to occupational and environmental exposures, pharmaceutical agents, and unintentional and intentional poisoning. A medical toxicology fellowship provides fellows with experience in the clinical practice of medical toxicology and prepares physicians as practitioners, educators, researchers, and administrators capable of practicing medical toxicology in academic and clinical settings.
