Upon completion of an accredited anesthesiology training program, physician anesthesiologists may pursue board certification and Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA) by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Beyond residency, there is the opportunity for fellowship training accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in pediatric anesthesia, cardiac anesthesia, pain management, and intensive care medicine. There are also numerous opportunities for clinical fellowships in areas such as obstetric anesthesia, neurosurgical anesthesia, ENT anesthesia and advanced airway management, ambulatory and office-based anesthesia, regional anesthesia, anesthesia informatics, and acute pain/regional anesthesia.
