The University of Maryland is a quaternary care facility serving not only the local urban community of Baltimore, but also taking referrals from all over the state of Maryland for specialty care. The high patient acuity and UMMC's nationally-recognized programs in trauma, transplant, oncology, and cardiovascular care allows for excellent education in both longitudinal as well as acute care and resuscitation across a variety of complex populations.
