Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell at South Oaks Hospital Program
About This Program
South Oaks is an academic community psychiatric hospital, connected to a major health system and medical school. Small class size allows for individualized attention, curricular flexibility, and mentorship. The educational model emphasizes direct observation, feedback, and a growth mindset. We provide all levels of care for mental health/substance-use disorders across the lifespan, and serve under/uninsured, Medicaid/Medicare and privately insured patients. Specialty programs include OnTrackNY, school-based and college mental health. There is training in neuromodulation, community psychiatry, and collaborative care. Substantial elective time supports expertise in subspecialties, medical education, health systems leadership, and QI.
