The GI and liver services encompass a comprehensive range of adult and pediatric gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary diseases, with an annual volume of approximately 10,000+ GI cases and 1,200 liver and pancreatobiliary specimens, including native liver biopsies, transplant biopsies, resections, and referral consults. The University of Kentucky serves as a major tertiary care center for Kentucky and the surrounding region, including liver transplant pathology, and is recognized for its expertise
