Loyola Medicine MacNeal Hospital Program
About This Program
Our Community Medicine elective immerses residents in the real-world challenges and rewards of caring for people experiencing homelessness. Over the course of this rotation, trainees will explore how housing instability and other social determinants drive chronic disease and learn management strategies that account for limited access to medications, transportation, and follow-up. Residents examine the structural and systemic factors that perpetuate health inequities among unhoused populations.
