The Department of Cardiac Surgery at Michigan Medicine has been awarded with a T32 Surgeon-Scientist Training Grant by the NHLBI. This exciting new program is designed to support research education for cardiac, thoracic, or general surgery residents. The program offers two-year laboratory and clinical/health services research training in pediatric or cardiac surgery. Our proposed core program will provide trainees with rigorous scientific and biostatical training and expanded knowledge beyond their oftentimes narrow research focus to ensure successful academic career progression. Laboratory-based research training follows a project-oriented approach with careful mentoring by trainee preceptors. We are currently seeking candidates for 2 residency research fellowship positions beginning on July 1, 2023.
