Gynecologic oncology focuses on cancers of the female reproductive system, including ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, vaginal cancer, cervical cancer, and vulvar cancer.

A gynecologic oncologist is a subspecialist in obstetrics and gynecology who has advanced knowledge of the comprehensive management of patients with gynecologic malignancies. This includes familiarity with those diagnostic and therapeutic procedures necessary for the total care of a woman at risk for or diagnosed with gynecologic cancer or precursors, and complications resulting therefrom.
