Blood banking/transfusion medicine is the practice of laboratory and clinical medicine concerned with all aspects of blood transfusion, cellular therapies, and apheresis. Blood banking/transfusion medicine fellowship programs provide a strong foundation in clinical pathology and clinical medicine (1).
