ERAS®
Electronic Residency Application Service®
A centralized, online application service provided by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) that applicants use to deliver their application, along with supporting documents, to participating residency programs.
NRMP®
The National Resident Matching Program®
A private, non-profit organization established in 1952 at the request of medical students to provide an orderly and fair mechanism for matching the preferences of applicants for U.S. residency positions with the preferences of residency program directors.
NRMP, also referenced to as The Match®, is a separate organization and system from ERAS. After applying to programs and interviewing, the NRMP provides programs and applicants the ability to submit their training preferences through rank order lists. Those lists are then processed using a Nobel Prize winning matching algorithm to make the best match possible for both applicants and programs.
Register with both ERAS and NRMP to use the services of each organization.
